Honey is a massively important food source that not only tastes fantastic, but is also known for its many health properties. The ancient Greeks believed honey could help you live longer, while the Egyptians used honey to treat wounds.

There are many beekeepers in the central London area whose bees forage on the large variety of plants in the parks, railway sidings and tree-lined roads to make honey and pollinate the plants. It takes about 60,000 bees collectively travelling up to 55,000 miles and visiting more than 2 million flowers to make one pound of honey.

Honey provides a great natural source of carbohydrates and gives a real energy boost. It has been proven that honey contains powerful antioxidants with antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It can also combat pollen allergies, particularly if you eat honey containing some of those specific pollens causing the allergies, which is why it is always better to eat local honey.
