Coffee is almost as popular a drink as the traditional tea in the UK these days due to the dominance of many coffee shops on the high street offering a huge menu of different variations.

Although coffee originated in Ethiopia, went on to find popularity around the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle Ages, and was introduced into the UK in the seventeenth century,  it is only really in the last few decades that it has become a worthy contender to the daily cuppa.

This is partly due to the abundance of good quality coffee now available in stark contrast to the bitter instant varieties that we had become used to. There is an ever growing number of locally roasted coffee brands making inroads with their unusual blends, which are in no way bland, so it is well worth checking them out!
