Margot and Montanez alfajores

 

Based in Surrey, Margot & Montanez was created by Jennifer Munson-Montanez who wanted to bring the delicious, indulgent South American flavours of her childhood to British food lovers.

Growing up in Caracas, which is the capital city of Venezuela, Jen enjoyed cooking a variety of delicious treats, including alfajores (melt-in-the-mouth shortbread-like cookies) and indulgent cakes, with her family.

Since leaving Venezuela at the age of 25, Jen and her recipes have travelled all around the world, eventually settling in England which she now calls home. 

Her passion for making the sweet and light South American treats, alfajores (al-fa-ho-res), started at the age of 12 when she attended a cookery course run by a renowned Venezuelan chef.

Margot & Montanez was launched in 2018 and since then Jen has been busy introducing her artisan alfajores and other South American treats to the people of Surrey and beyond.

If you're lucky, you may find her unique sweet treats in local independent cafés, including Aromas in Weybridge, and Jen can regularly be found at farmers' markets, including Ripley, Cobham and Walton-on-Thames, and food festivals around Surrey.

In fact, wherever possible, Margot & Montanez’ products, which are naturally gluten-free, are often made using local ingredients from fellow farmers’ markets stallholders.

Flavours currently include Dulce de Leche, Hazelnut Ganache & Pistachio, Lemon & Lime, Organic Matcha Green Tea, Raspberry & White Chocolate Buttercream, Salted Caramel and Piña Colada, but Jen is always working on new products.

Margot & Montanez indulgent alfajores are perfect for weddings, family occasions, employee perks and events, and Jen has a range of offers available for anyone looking to treat their guests.

In 2020, Margot & Montanez received a star from the Great Taste Awards, the Oscars of the food world, for their speciality artisan alfajores.

One of the things that has made the British food and drink scene so exciting in recent decades is the magical effect international flavours and dishes have had in transforming it into one big melting pot of multicultural deliciousness.
