As well as shelves stocked full of excellent produce from the surrounding area, Village Greens grows a wide variety of fruit and vegetables, both at Ockley and in the walled garden on the Denbies Estate. They use traditional methods and pick fresh each day for the best possible flavour.
They source from farmers and producers as local to the farm shops as possible and, currently, around 60 of their suppliers are located within a twenty mile radius of their two shops.
Visit the Ockley store and you’ll find local free range chicken, meat and sausages; freshly baked local breads and pastries; local cheeses, beers, wines and gins; smoked fish and cold meats; olives, pâtés and dips; local ice cream; organic and fair trade groceries; and seasonal plants.
Village Greens is dedicated to working with local producers and supporting them, and work closely with their neighbours, Ockley Nursery, which runs Ockley Farmers’ Market on the first Sunday of each month. It’s a great opportunity to visit the farm shop and also meet a number of local artisan producers.
Their annual autumn food fair is heading into its 12th year in 2019 and is always a hugely popular event. It’s a chance to meet the farmers and producers who help to stock Village Greens' shops throughout the year and discover a few new flavours.
