Launched by seasoned head distiller, Simon Sherlock, Distillers of Surrey is a new artisan distillery that's based in the village of Ripley.
They set out with a craftsmanship and passion for producing gin and other spirits with distinction, that's sure to appeal to connoisseurs and lovers of top quality cocktails.
The first drinks in their range, which launched in June 2018, were Solstice and Nautical from their Sherlock & Sons gin range. They added Aromatic to the range in October 2018.
These super-premium tipples are perfect for summer drinking served neat, with a touch of premium tonic or blended into something more adventurous.
An intriguing London Dry Gin, Solstice has a traditional juniper body and floral notes of elderflower paired with zesty pink grapefruit. Its perfect serve is with plenty of ice, premium Indian or elderflower tonic and a twist of pink grapefruit peel to garnish.
Nautical, meanwhile, is a 100 proof London Dry Gin. Expect a juniper-forward aroma, complimented by the delicate notes of angelica seed and zesty lime. Best served with plenty of ice, premium Indian tonic and a twist of lime peel to garnish.
Twelve botanicals make Distillers of Surrey’s Aromatic Edition. Inspired by the finest UK ingredients, they sourced from olive groves in Sussex, rosemary and bay leaves from Surrey and tea from the UK's first plantation in Cornwall. The perfect serve is with plenty of ice, premium Mediterranean tonic and a sprig of rosemary to garnish.
Stepping away from large-scale production, Simon says the focus of Distillers of Surrey is on bringing customers beautifully crafted, small-batch drinks products with an uncompromising focus on quality.
To achieve his goals, he has set about sourcing botanicals of the finest quality and origins for the Distillers of Surrey range. He is also making efforts to work with environmentally friendly packaging, reduce their footprint at every opportunity and support local businesses.
Simon and his gins have quickly become a firm fixture at local farmers' markets and food and drink festivals in Surrey and further afield, as well as on the shelves of discerning shops and bars.
Local Food Surrey says
It's always exciting to be at the very start of a new foodie journey and Simon Sherlock and his gin has quickly become the talk of the party since launching in Surrey in 2018. We look forward to seeing how this expert distiller's story develops.
In its first year, Distillers of Surrey was highly commended in the Newcomer of the Year category at the 2018 Surrey Life Food & Drink Awards; won gold for its Aromatic in the World Gin Awards’ London Dry category; and been installed into the Gin Guild. Not a bad start to life behind the bar then...
