Richmond is in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, 15 miles south west of central London. As the name suggests the River Thames runs through the heart of the borough linking Hampton Court Palace, Richmond Town Centre and Kew Gardens. Richmond is renowned for its large number of parks including Richmond Park and conservation areas such as Richmond Hill. The town is a rich tapestry of shops, restaurants, cafes, theatres, museums and galleries.
There are a number of hugely popular festivals centered around the river each year: Richmond Running Festival and Fitness Expo, On The Edge - world music and dance and the FAB Fringe Food and Real Ale Festival. Real foodies can also enjoy a tempting array of locally produced food and beverages at the regular Duck Pond Market which also sells local arts, crafts, homeware and clothing.
