Haslemere is a town in the borough of Waverley and is the most southerly town in Surrey.  Historically the name described hazel trees standing beside a mere (lake).  The lake no longer exists but the natural spring in West Street could have provided its source. Haslesmere was granted a charter by Richard II in 1394 and again by Elizabeth I in 1596 and a Charter Fair is held biannually to celebrate this special status.

The Haslemere Food Festival has continued to build on its success year after year becoming one of the highspots of the town’s calendar attracting huge support both locally and regionally from both food and drink producers and foodies alike.  In addition, the annual Haslemere Beer Festival is a celebration of real ale, cider, Perry and wine and attracts visitors from all over the south east.
