Could you start by telling us how the last few weeks have been for you?
Bloody brilliant. We’re now sending pies UK-wide, settling into the process and busier than ever. Perhaps we’ll never go back to the old ways, who knows?
What positive steps have you taken to get through the lockdown?
We’ve just taken on the lease of a second production site of 3,000sq ft, to build an artisan bakery. It’s in the same group of units as our current one and we have employed master bakers to develop a range for us right away.
Are there any innovations of which you are particularly proud?
As well as those already mentioned, we have ambitions to offer ‘a warm afternoon loaf’ to homes, in time for dinner, but also to open the front door to clients and sell the best breads and pastries that south-west London can offer.
How have your customers been supporting you during this time?
By buying large!
Are there any special measures you’ll be bringing in once you re-open and get back to more normality?
Re-open? We never closed.
Why is it so important that people 'Stay Loyal To Local' going forward?
By buying local, it also helps to ensure the quality of sourcing – i.e. knowing that what you’re eating has been sourced responsibly, ethically and with quality at the forefront. People are willing to pay for that.
What’s the best way that our community can do that for now?
Ask questions, hold manufacturers and makers to task. Request info and, if it’s not the best available (free-range eggs, high-welfare meat etc), ask why not?
