Specialising in traditional South African street food inspired by the flavours of his childhood in Kwa Zulu Natal, Shaun's Lekker Kitchen serves up exciting dishes using locally sourced produce in Sussex and Surrey.
Until recently a senior sous chef at a two rosette hotel restaurant in Sussex, Shaun knows his way around the kitchen and is passionate about using those skills to bring delicious South African snacks and comfort food dishes to the British market.
From dry cured biltong and boerewors sausages to warming Bunny Chow curries and addictive vetkoek, all of the food from Shaun's Lekker Kitchen is homemade using the best ingredients available.
Shaun loves living in West Sussex and adding his South African heritage to the food and drink diversity of the region.
You'll find Shaun’s Lekker Kitchen at Redhill market in Surrey every Thursday; Dorking Friday Market every Friday in St Martin's Walk car park, Dorking; and occasionally hosting pop up kitchens at The Frog & Nightgown pub in Faygate, Sussex.
And, just in case you were wondering, 'lekker' loosely translates as 'tasty'. One taste of Shaun's delicious food, and it all makes sense.
Local Food Sussex says
South African food is a melting pot of world cultures, from the indigenous population to the Dutch, French, Indians and Malaysians, and so it’s packed full of vibrant flavours and creativity.
Throw in some quality locally sourced ingredients, and it's no surprise that people return to Shaun's Lekker Kitchen time and time again for their street food fix.
