Nestled between the stunning chalk hills of the South Downs is the pretty market town of Lewes. Popular with the tourists, Lewes is home to a wonderful variety of restaurants, good food pubs, cafes, hotels and bed and breakfast, catering for all tastes. Local delicacies are on the menu at the monthly local farmers market.

Lewes is the location of many significant historic buildings including Lewes Castle, the remains of Lewes Priory and The Cathedral of Lewes – a 19th century tower brewery which is home to the town's brewer of local ale - Harveys.

The town plays host to a number of annual events, the most significant of which is the Lewes Bonfire. Bonfire celebrations in Lewes are famous for being the largest and most controversial in the country.
