Select a county to find local food

Crowborough is a large East Sussex town situated on the Weald and teetering on the edge of the lovely tourist spot of Ashdown Forest, around which there are many local food producers. It is also close to Royal Tunbridge Wells, with its cosmopolitan collection of bistros, bars and restaurants.

Crowborough has the largest inland population in East Sussex and has the ingredients of a successful market town. Although it has a high ratio of supermarkets, it is also supportive of independent businesses and attracts visitors from surrounding towns such as Tunbridge Wells.

You might not think of Crowborough as "Scotland in Sussex" but that was the name awarded to it by imaginative estate agents in the late 19th century, when Crowborough was promoted as a health resort based on its high elevation, the rolling hills and surrounding forest.
