The small town of Rye in East Sussex is located at the confluence of the Rother, Tillingham and Brede, and it is a veritable foodie goldmine. Its country market sells a wide range of locally produced preserves, baked goods, preserves, honey and eggs. Rye high street boasts many independent shops – organic butchers, delis selling local specialities, greengrocers stocking only local produce, and bakers selling organic speciality bread. The town is also close to fantastic vineyards selling award-winning English wine. Although it is two miles away from the open sea, Rye is also home to amazing scallops, which are celebrated annually at the Rye Bay Scallops Festival.
