Local Food Sussex - Bookham Harrison Farms produces Twineham Grange, vegetarian, Parmesan cheese, Sussex Charmer cheese, Southdowns butter, pasta sauces and their own hampers.
Bookham Harrison Farms is a family business based on the Sussex/Surrey border at Rudgwick. Locally and internationally renowned for its award-winning Sussex Charmer cheese, the farm also produces Twineham Grange hard cheese and traditionally made South Downs Butter, as well as a range of delicious pasta sauces. You'll also find The Milk Churn Coffee Shop just outside of Rudgwick, where you can try the famous Sussex Charmer cheese on toast or macaroni cheese. Look out for the Cheese on Toast van at events around the country, which have included Glastonbury festival, Royal Ascot and RHS Chelsea Flower Show so far in 2015.
Sussex Charmer is a multi-award-winning mature cheese, made exclusively with milk from Bookham Harrison Farms' herd of Welfare Assured, grass-fed cows at Pallinghurst Farm. The Jersey/Friesian-cross cows produces an exceptionally high quality milk that is perfect for creating this creamy and full bodied cheese. The unique flavour results from the marriage of traditional farmhouse cheese and Parmesan production methods, creating a mature cheddar taste with a Parmesan zing.
Twineham Grange is a Parmesan-style cheese but made with vegetarian rennet, meaning it's the only cheese of its type to be Vegetarian Society Approved. Matured for 15 months, it's sweeter than one might expect, which makes it delicious for eating as well as for grating over your pasta.
Bookham's products are supplied to the trade either directly via a next day courier service, or though a network of wholesalers. If you are interested in becoming a trade customer, please get in touch
Local Food Sussex says
The Milk Churn Coffee Shop is a Sussex gem, and not only for its famous cheese on toast - you'll also find artisan food and drink from other local producers to take home. We'd recommend the Sussex Charmer matched with its own unique chutney, specially produced to complement this delicious cheese.
