Surrounded by miles and miles of wonderful countryside, and with the High Chart and the Greensand Way literally on the doorstep, The Carpenters Arms at Limpsfield Chart near Oxted is well worth discovering. Beautifully refurbished by the new owners, it combines cosy country pub and sunny function room and is fast building a reputation for terrific food. For manager Dale, every detail matters. 'Okay' just doesn't cut the mustard with them.
What is special about The Carpenters Arms?
It's a real community local - walkers are warmly welcomed - where the food and ambience matter a great deal. The refurbishment has breathed new life into the pub, but it has been done thoughtfully, losing none of the character of the place. The Garden Room is a lovely venue for private events, weddings and business functions of up to 100 people, or more when we throw open the sliding doors in warmer months. There is also the opportunity to erect a marquee in the grounds, giving even greater flexibility.
How do you contribute to the local food scene?
The menu is imaginative but never pretentious; our skilled chefs take the best seasonal ingredients to create food which is really putting us on the map. Supporting local producers is important to us so we source our lamb from Crockham Hill Farm when it's available and the freshest fish is cooked in Westerham Ale batter. Our cheeseboard includes Tunworth Soft, Olde Sussex and Molecomb Blue. We lay on seasonal specials, too, so do check the website to see what the chefs are cooking now.
Events at The Carpenters Arms
From Burns Night to St Patricks Day, quiz nights, music nights and tribute bands, our events are very popular and really do bring the pub alive. So, meet up with friends or come and make new ones, while enjoying local ales, fine wines and the very best, handmade food.
