Caterham is a town which sits within the Surrey district of Tandridge. It is split into two main parts: Caterham-on-the-Hill and Caterham Valley.

Twenty-one miles from Guildford and six miles from Croydon, Caterham is well served by public transport and has a railway station with good connections to London; the town is therefore popular with commuters. Caterham Cars was established in the town that bears its name – their current model is the Caterham 7. There is no shortage of eateries in Caterham Valley and Caterham-on-the-Hill; most, it has to be said, are chains, but if you look carefully you will still find some independents such as the lovely little Cafe Bambini on Caterham High Street, which is particularly welcoming to children, making it the ideal place to meet friends with kids. If you’re lucky, you may even get a parking space outside!
