One of London’s two main financial power centres along with the traditional City of London, Canary Wharf in Tower Hamlets is home to the world or European headquarters of many of the major banks. It also houses the UK’s second tallest building, One Canada Square.

The business district’s location in the West India Docks on the Isle of Dogs used to be one of the busiest ports in the world until the docks were closed in 1980. Now with around 105,000 people working in the area every day, Canary Wharf has also become a major shopping and retail area with a good choice of restaurants. You can choose from cafés serving brunch to takeaway sandwiches and soups establishments to restaurants such as Plateau on the fourth floor on the top of Canada Place affording great views of the surrounding cityscape.
