Gaskyns is a friendly and vibrant café, coffee shop and restaurant situated close to magnificent Arundel Castle.
Local food is important to owner Charly and his team - organic eggs come from a small, family farm, the freshest milk from an independent dairy in nearby Bury, and bread is baked for them daily by renowned Slindon Bakery - Gaskyns' sandwiches come highly recommended! Arundel Butchers supplies meat while smoked fish (including sumptuous wild salmon) is sourced from Springs of Henfield.
Winner of Sussex Life magazine's Best Family Dining award, it is certainly child-friendly, and even has a toy cupboard for little ones to explore, as well as offering children's portions of its excellent food. The venue is a favourite for children's parties, while the garden is a popular spot in which to enjoy the Sussex sunshine. Children's groups meet at Gaskyns on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings - please ring for full details.
Gaskyns' shop is next door to the eatery, and here you can buy many of the ingredients from the menu - including Sussex honey and handmade cakes - and much more besides. Bread and cakes can be ordered ahead.
Gaskyns is a gluten-free friendly cafe restaurant
Charly and his team aim to be as flexible as possible and many menu items can be produced from gluten free ingredients, so if you are a coeliac or have a wheat allergy, do let them know.
Local Food Sussex says
We came across Gaskyns during a visit to historic Arundel and it was clear from within a few seconds of talking to Charly that he is passionate about supporting the local food scene. There's a great vibe around Gaskyns and we were thrilled to hear they had won Sussex Life's Best Family Dining award.
Breakfast at Gaskyns is a real treat - and however you like your eggs, you can be assured they are organic and sourced from a local farm.
