Welcome to Merle's Kitchen, a producer of Turkish Delight and other Mediterranean specialities including Festival Shortbread, Macaroons, Baklava, Polenta Cake, Harissa, Savoury Filo Pies, amongst others.
Based in Lewes, East Sussex, Merle's Kitchen is owned by Merle Moustafa and her delicacies are made by hand in small batches, based on Merle's family's traditional Turkish/Cypriot recipes using Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours along with local English herbs and flowers.
The handmade Turkish Delight has a softer texture than the commercially produced alternatives, contains no preservatives and is best eaten as fresh as possible. The Festival Shortbread is a traditional celebration biscuit, especially popular at weddings in Turkey, Greece and Cyprus. All products are suitable for vegetarians and biodegradable packaging is used where possible.

And Merle uses local oranic chillies to make a pungent Harissa which is a hot chilli paste, great as a flavouring for couscous.
