Emotively translated as 'coffee with friends', cafezinho is a warm Brazilian welcome that is only extended to people who you really want to spend time with.

Founded by Sidineia Wilson, who grew up on a farm in Brazil but has lived in Woldingham for seven years, Cafezinho is also a brand new independent coffee roastery based in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the border with Kent.

Her aim is to directly source the best quality Brazilian green coffee beans, grown in the most sustainable, social and environmental way - and she goes to the top of the world to do it.

"Our love affair with coffee is as much about the journey as it is about the coffee," says Sidineia. "It represents the people, the culture, and the hard work of the growers, and that is something to treasure."

Cafezinho exclusively roasts high altitude, single origin coffee beans from the Serra do Caparao area, where the best organic Arabica coffee in Brazil is said to be produced. The higher the altitude, the experts say, the more nuanced the flavour of the coffee.

Looking to build long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with her supplier plantations, Sidineia sources her beans directly from farmers who have become part of her growing coffee family.

Treating coffee a little bit like wine, her focus on the provenance and 'terroir' where her premium coffees are grown leads to unique and character-packed flavours that are perfect for connoisseurs.

Their first batch of coffees features Castanhas do Brasil (almonds and chocolate), Flor de Laranjeira (citric and refreshing), Doce Caparao (sweet, slightly fruit) and Olivia (intense, sweet and light floral).

Cafezinho's coffees are available to buy online, at Local Food Britain member Botley Hill Farmhouse's Sheep Shed tea room and at various local markets.

Local Food Surrey says

It's impossible to have a coffee with Sidineia and not be left with a smile on your face. We get the impression that's exactly how she'd want it to be too. Pouring her hard work and passion into every cup, it's the start of an exciting journey that celebrates some of the highest parts of Brazil and has found its home in the heights of the Surrey Hills.

We've fallen in love with the phrase Cafezinho at the Local Food Britain office. Coffee with friends? We're all about bringing people together over food and drink.
