There’s a new reason to raise a glass in Surrey with the launch of a brand-new artisan micro-brewery in our county. Based in the stunning setting of the Titsey Estate, near Oxted, which is renowned for its lovely rolling countryside, the Titsey Brewing Company is producing three delicious craft ales. Beer-lovers in the area can now look forward to trying their Gower Wolf, a best bitter at 4%; Gresham Hopper, a hoppy pale ale at 3.7%; and Leveson Buck, a session IPA at 3.7%, which has both a cask and a keg variety.

“Having spent many months perfecting the taste – all in the name of research of course – we can testify that our flavoursome brews are absolutely delicious,” says head brewer, Craig Vroom, who lives in nearby Warlingham. “The historic Titsey Estate covers some 1,800 acres of farm and woodland here in gorgeous rural Surrey and we are proud to be capturing the heritage of the area with these fine ales.”

Tapping into the British passion for craft beers, the Titsey Brewing Company has big plans for its new range. Already on sale at Botley Hill Farmhouse in Warlingham, The White Bear at Fickleshole and The Queens Head near Biggin Hill, where the new beers have been going down a storm, there has also been interest from a number of other pubs across the area. In addition, the brewery has also showcased its range at beer festivals in Tatsfield and Beckenham, where it completely sold out.

“We have had a really enthusiastic response from local beer fans who love the idea of enjoying a beer fresh from our micro-brewery in the rolling Surrey countryside,” adds Craig. “Plus, each of our beer has its own special qualities. For example, our Gower Wolf is created with hops from East Kent and has a lovely caramel, honey aroma; the Gresham has a refreshing bitterness with flavours of citrus and mango; and the Leveson Buck has the two varieties – the hand pull and the keg – both of which have been a big hit.

“In addition, the Gresham Hopper and Leveson Buck are only 3.7%, which is relatively low in alcohol for a craft beer, but they still have the most amazing flavour.”
