Found in the small village of Fontley, near Titchfield, the Farm Shop at Garsons is a real destination for food lovers seeking out the best artisan food and drink from across Hampshire and beyond. Just a few steps away from the Farm Shop you'll find the Terrace Restaurant, with a menu of seasonal, freshly-cooked dishes ideal for perking up enthusiastic shoppers.
The Farm Shop is rightly proud of its reputation for carefully selected produce, such as bread and pastries from well-respected Hampshire bakers like the Oven Door Bakery and Stainers Bakery. The Real Jam & Chutney Company, based in Southampton, makes delicious preserves for Garsons using locally-grown ingredients, and you'll also find traditionally-made Hampshire honey in store.
There's an outstanding selection of real ales to be had, including beers from local breweries like Gosport's Oakleaf Brewery, Flack Manor Brewery in Romsey and Red Cat Brewing of Winchester. Alongside them, you'll find English and traditional fruit wines made by the Lyme Bay Winery, including the Shoreline white which is ideal to pair with seafood. Also look out for locally-pressed juices made from Hampshire apples and pears at Hill Farm in the South Downs, and Sussex-made Gran Stead's Ginger drinks.
No trip to the Farm Shop is complete without a visit to the Owton's counter, an award-winning family butcher which even raises its own beef nearby at Chalcroft Farm. Try the champion homemade sausages, especially the Corporal Jones Wartime recipe, and 2 star Great Taste Award-winning 30-day dry-cured bacon. And don't miss the selection of around 80 cheeses, including local varieties from Lyburn Farmhouse Cheesemakers and Rosary Goat's Cheese, both from nearby Salisbury.
If you've spent a morning browsing the vast garden centre and are looking for somewhere to rest and recharge, the bright and airy Terrace Restaurant is just the place. Choose from the tempting display of cakes and pastries, or try one of the satisfying homemade dishes like fish and chips, full English breakfasts or a Sunday roast with all the trimmings.
Local Food Hampshire says
Much like its 'big sister' site at Esher, Garsons of Titchfield is lucky to have a team of enthusiastic foodies always on the lookout for produce their loyal customers will love.
They like to work with other family-run businesses - like Owton's the butcher - which is just one of the things that makes Garsons a great champion for independent producers.
