The New Forest is an idyllic area of glades, open moors and cliff top walks in Hampshire and at its gateway you'll find Spot in the Woods, a boutique bed and breakfast and Kitchen Café.
Located in Woodlands, near Netley Marsh, this independent business has a wonderful team and passionate, creative chefs who source local ingredients to deliver a relaxed, social (and tasty!) dining experience. It's an excellent spot for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea.
They also have lovely boutique bedrooms, making it a perfect hideaway retreat for those wishing to stay in the New Forest National Park and explore the area.
On the doorstep you'll find some of the best walking and cycling trails in the country and plenty of attractions, such as Paultons Park, New Forest Wildlife Park and the delightful village of Lyndhurst. They are dog friendly too, so the whole family are welcome.
Led by Gavin Barnes, the team in the Kitchen Café is always working with local suppliers to create tasty, seasonal dishes, which change all the time. Spot in the Woods aims to showcase some of the best produce in the UK at great value for money prices.
For instance, on their lunch menu highlights include day boat caught fish and chips, crayfish with black pepper and lemon mayonnaise sandwiches and the Spot’s ploughman’s with honey roast ham, locally made pork pie, local Cheddar, balsamic pickled onions, New Forest piccalilli and crusty bread
Their coffee is supplied by Mozzo, a Southampton based coffee company established in 2005 by Grant Lang – reportedly with the world’s first solar and wind powered art covered coffee cart.
Spot in the Woods' Kitchen Café is open 8am to 4pm, seven days a week, with no booking required and their bed and breakfast rooms start from £95 per night. They also have their own larder and lifestyle store, so you can take a little piece of what you find away with you.
Local Food Hampshire says
Previously known as Hotel TerraVina, Spot in the Woods is a celebration of all that is great about Hampshire. Based at the gateway to the New Forest, which is among the most picturesque destinations in the country and a haven for food and drink entrepreneurs, they really couldn't be any better situated.
With vineyards, microbreweries, cheesemakers, rare breed farms, farmers' markets and the coast on the doorstep, this corner of Hampshire is perfect for those looking to pick from nature's larder.
