Genteel and typically English, taking afternoon tea and cakes is one of the best ways to while a way an hour or two. Many of  Kent's tearooms, cafés and even pubs specialise in this this English tradition – and in the summer months, find one with a pretty garden and you'll be in tea paradise.

Did you know? The Victoria Sandwich cake was named after Queen Victoria, who loved a slice with her afternoon tea. Winston Churchill was also a big fan of tea - once stating, "Tea is more important than ammunition." We assume he wasn't referring to the battlefield!
