Local Food Britain's Countryside Food Festival

Shake out your picnic rug and make some space in your kitchen cupboards – Local Food Britain’s Countryside Food Festival is returning to Priory Farm in Nutfield on Saturday September 14, 2019.

Following on from the inaugural event last year, which drew thousands of people from across the south-east, the Surrey-based food network will bring together its members to create a festival that will stimulate the senses of food lovers - and raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event will showcase artisan local food and drink from bakers and brewers to wine producers, distillers, cheese specialists and patisserie makers – as well as featuring street food, vegan inspiration and much more.

Food talks and demonstrations

Back by popular demand will be Bake with Jack who will be sharing his bread-making tips and beer-tastings with Crumbs Brewing.

Among the new live foodie chats will be 'Curry in a Hurry’ by Mandira’s Kitchen and a demonstration on how to make vegan sushi from Surrey-based chef and supper club host Laura Scott of How to Cook Good Food.

Purveyors of creative open-fire cooking The Salt Box will be joining Dorking’s Hill House Farm for a farm to fork talk, and also hosting family workshops on the day.

Foodie family fun

The Countryside Food Festival will have something for all the family with vintage tractors, classic cars, spectacular displays from birds of prey, yoga, archery, hands-on country skills and crafts and plenty of picnic spots around the venue to enjoy eating al fresco and sipping local beers, wines, gins and soft drinks.

BBC Radio Surrey will be broadcasting live from the festival on the day, and there will be music from the Oxted Brass Band as well as acoustic street musicians.

Children and adults will have the chance to enter the Preserves with Passion 2019 competition in advance of the food festival and the entries will be judged at the event.

The winning jam, jelly or chutney will be recreated and packaged as a Limited Edition for the Bartie’s Sussex Faire range (a member of Local Food Britain), and all profits from its sale will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The festival will open at 10am until 5pm and there will be plenty of free parking at The Lambing Barn field, Priory Farm Estate, South Nutfield, Surrey RH1 4EJ where the festival will be held (just down the road from the farm shop).

Entry is £3 per person (free for children aged under 12) which includes an optional 50p donation going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
